Please! think before you Panic?

Fridays Issues 30/03/2012 According to the press association.

The press association 10 am Friday 30th March 2012. Woman burned while decanting petrol

A woman has been badly burned after petrol ignited as she transferred it between containers in her kitchen. The woman was decanting fuel from one container to another in a house in York when it ignited and set fire to her clothing, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said. She was taken to hospital with 40% burns to her body.

Meanwhile Carwyn Jones said ministers in London needed to calm down. The first minister has accused the UK government of behaving irresponsibly after it advised motorists to top up their fuel tanks.

Ffeirio Says! I ask you all.  Not to panic. Petrol tank Drivers have voted to strike only if employers refuse to meet their demands. the strike action was called over fears concerning working conditions. Both sides are currently in talks with ACAS.

Now is not the time to start panic buying.  Hoading fuel at this stage will only cause misery for thousands of Motorists You  will all be given 7 days notice in the event of industrial action occuring.

This is the message that the PM and the government should have put out in the beginning. If they kept to the script there would be no crisis. Instead they decided to play party politics. Fanning the flames of greed and discontent in an effort to push the budget & the increasing backlash off the front pages.  while at the same time attempting to alienate the Unite union & it`s members.

Motorists Please act sensibly. Or you will cause untold misery to thousands.

Let`s Debate this issue.

How do  you think The government has handled this issue. Have they made a crisis out of a drama of the  governments making?  Would you give them the thumbs up ,or thumbs down regarding this issue. May be your unsure perhaps your 50/50. Let us know  what you think?

PM causes Panic Buying

Wednesdays Issues 28/03/2012. Press association.

There have been queues at some filling stations across Wales as apparent panic buying kicked in ahead of concerns there may be a strike by tanker drivers.

The Government seems hell bent on  trying to confect a crisis in just that way. The Gaff came as David Cameron, had called on people to top up their cars.

There has also been  criticism of a UK government minister who urged motorists to store spare fuel at home. Some filling stations are now running short, with their operators saying it is because of the increase in demand, not supply problems.

A poll by RMI Petrol, representing independent retailers, found that petrol sales were up 81% and diesel up 43% on Wednesday. Rises of 45% for petrol and 20% for diesel had been reported on Tuesday amid talk of a strike.

Ffeirio Says! How stupid is David Cameron and Francis Maude. They both waded in with their size 10 wellies today. Instead of the PM Calming the situation ahead of possible strike action. fanning the flames of protest against unite union. Intentionally making a crisis out of a drama. Causing untold misery by provoking panic buying by mis-informed motorists. In order to deflect attention away from it`s failing budget. An attempt to keep Criticism off the front pages, has magnificently back fired.

Any escalation of resentment resulting in the alienating the Petrol tanker drivers. Would Work in favour of the government This is when they have not even decided to strike yet. Simply voted in favour of action. Before they even decide to go on strike They have to give 7 days notice. At the moment the strike vote is merely a negotiating ploy, There is no need to stock up so please don`t.

Whilst Francis Maude has taken to the radio waves to urge people to top up and store fuel in jerry cans. A really stupid thing to say, as anyone with any sense will tell you.It is so dangerous it beggars belief. His unwarrented advice has prompted criticism with the Fire Brigades Union urging Mr Maude to withdraw his statement. A jerry can can hold 20% more fuel than what is legally permitted to store at home.

Francis Maude has also raised criticism by using inflamatory phrases like “any tanker drivers strike would put lives at risk”, Which is completley unfounded as it ignores the fact that the emergency services have their own stocks of fuel, that emergency planning ensures those who need fuel will get it and that the unions themselves have insisted they will not strike unless it is a last resort.

Let`s Debate this issue.

What do you think about David Cameron`s Gaff. Or Francis Maudes Blundering attitude.Would you give Them the thumbs up ,or thumbs down regarding this issue. May be your unsure perhaps your 50/50. Let us know  what you think?

Bring in the Army

Mondays Issues 26/03/2012.  According to LONDON (Reuters

The government may draft in soldiers to drive fuel tankers in the event of a strike that could disrupt road travel around the country, a minister said ahead of the result of a ballot expected on Monday.

“We are encouraging stocks to be built up so that the essential services don’t get left short. And we have asked the Ministry of Defence to start training a number of potential tanker crews so that we can do our very best to keep supplies going,” Cabinet Office minister Francis Maude told Sky TV.

The Unite union held a ballot for strike action earlier this month and expects the result on Monday afternoon.

Catch up.Fuel tanker drivers have voted in favour of taking strike action in a row over terms and conditions and safety, Unite said there had been “unrelenting attacks” on drivers’ conditions.

In an interview with the BBC’s Hardtalk programme, the general secretary of Unite, Len McCluskey, refused to rule out the possibility that any strike would be held over Easter. About 2,000 drivers at seven distribution depots took part in the ballot in what was the first national industrial action campaign for more than 10 years.

While the government stressed that it has been active in preparing for any potential disruption, a spokesman at the Department for Energy and Climate Change said that no final decision had been made to deploy military personnel.

Wincanton, the biggest affected company, has been working with the government to try to ensure that tankers can be kept on the road.

Ffeirio Says! That maybe the soldiers should be made aware that while they are fighting in Afghanistan on behalf of this country the government  has plotted against them delivering unwarranted cuts including personnel to all the armed forces. Budgets have been slashed across the board.  maybe they should be encouraged to refuse to get involved on the grounds that the goverrnments policies are hurting innocent people. The rich and powerful are gaining. We are not asking for our Armed forces to Strike simply refuse to get involved. Why would they want to become the unpaid security service of big business. When the governments actions are hurting so many of our poor and vulnerable.

They themselves/ soldiers pay the same extortionate prices for petrol as both you and me. Enough is enough. Soldiers must never be used in order to prop up the unwanted Policies of a Government without a mandate to govern.

Let`s Debate this issue.

Do you think the army should be brought in to man these petrol tankers should strikes happen. Do you give the government the  thumbs up ,or thumbs down regarding this issue. May be your unsure perhaps your 50/50. Let us know  what you think?
